Literary analysis:
In literature the color linen is sometimes invoked to evoke a delicate, almost ethereal pallor—a hue reminiscent of undyed flax fiber, subtle and natural. For example, in one passage a character’s face is described as “pale as linen” [1], a simile that imbues her features with a ghostly, fragile quality. This usage of linen as a color goes beyond mere description; it suggests both a pristine brightness and an understated vulnerability that can enrich a character’s emotional or symbolic presence within a narrative.
  1. She struggled in his arms, her face pale as linen, her voice with a note of almost shrill alarm.
    — from A Butterfly on the Wheel: A Novel by Francis Neilson

This tab, the new OneLook "color thesaurus", is a work in progress. It draws from a data set of more than 2000 color names gathered from sources around the Web, and an analysis of how they are referenced in English texts. Some words, like "peach", function as both a color name and an object; when you do a search for words like these, you will see both of the above sections.
