There are no pop-up advertisements on OneLook.com.
We do not allow pop-up ads of any kind on this site
and strongly object to them. If you think you've seen pop-up ads
on OneLook.com, one of three explanations is likely:
what Google wrote
in response to complaints from users who thought they served popup ads;
we feel exactly the same way and urge you to follow their advice
for eliminating pop-ups from your web browsing experience and from the world.
- Are the pop-ups occurring after you go to a dictionary
listed on a OneLook.com search results page? If so, then it's
the dictionary site itself sending you the pop-up ads, not
OneLook.com. In this case please inform the maintainer of the
offending site that you object to their advertising practices. We
cannot control how dictionary providers choose to design their web
- Are the pop-ups occurring on the OneLook.com home page?
If so, then it is possible that the site that sent you to OneLook.com
generated an "exit" pop-up advertisement.
- Are the pop-ups occurring when you do a search? Have you recently installed a file-sharing program such as Kazaa,
BearShare, or AudioGalaxy on your computer? If so, then you
may have unwittingly installed "adware" that displays third-party
pop-up advertising as you surf the web. This software
is specifically designed to trigger unsolicited pop-up ads when you type search terms
into Internet search engines.
